Salary hike Bill for MLAs, MLCs passed in Andhra Pradesh Council
Hyderabad, Mar 29 : More then 100 per cent hike in salary, including constituency allowance and increment in pension, was given to the MLAs and MLCs when a Bill was passed by the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council here tonight.

The Bill was passed by Council Chairman A Chakrapani when State Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy introduced it by hiking salaries from Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000 and constituency allowance from Rs 35,000 to Rs 95,000 while the pension was increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000.

The decision to the hike in salary was taken in the Amenities Committee meeting held after discussion with the all-party legislators, including TDP, PRP and Left parties individually by Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar.

The Minister said the new salary will come into force from January 1, 2011.

Earlier, during the discussion on the salary hike, CPM leader Seetharamulu (CPM) and teachers Constituency members MVS Sarma and Subaramanyam have strongly opposed the Bill.

Even some of the outsourcing and contractor worker's salary are still below the minimum wages, they alleged.

1.Mr Vanga Vilaya Raja, Village Revenue Officer, Rangapuram of Reddygudem Mandal, Krishna District was caught red-handed by ACB when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 7,000 from the complainant for processing complainant`s application for issue of Pattadar Pass Books.The accused officer Raja will be remanded to judicial custody, an ACB release here said.

2.In another case K Gandailah, Sanitary Jawan, office of the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Rajendranagar GHMC, was caught red-handed by the A C B Officials when he demanded and accepted Rs 5,000 as bribe for processing the sanitary contract bill pertaining to Jai Santoshi Matha Dwakra Group, Budvel Village of Rajendranagar Mandal in R R District.Gandaiah will be produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and A C B Cases, Hyderabad, the release added.

3.Pereddygari Narsimha Reddy (43) Senior Assistant, Board of Intermediate Education, Nampally, Hyderabad was caught red handed by the A C B Officials when he demanded and accepted Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant for processing the file and to change name and address of the college located at Ramanthapur.

Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths conducted a surprise check on the office of the Deputy Transport Commissioner, Vijayawada, on Wednesday and recovered a total amount of Rs. 63,770 from 15 private agents, 1 senior assistant and 1 AMVI. The agents could not satisfactorily account for the cash. The Attendance Register, Personal Cash Declaration Register and other relevant records were seized for further enquiry.

4. Vadrevu Mallaparaju, the Village Revenue Officer, Chakradwarabandham (V), Velugubanda, Rajanagaram (M), East Godavari district, was caught red-handed by ACB officials in the late hours of Wednesday at the Tahsildar Office, Rajanagaram, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant for showing official favour to process his application and to get the duplicate Title Deed issued to the complainant. Mallaparaju was arrested and will be produced before the Court for Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Vijayawada.

5. ACB sleuths conducted a surprise check at the Check Post of Commercial Taxes, Madnoor, Nizamabad district, on Thursday, and recovered Rs. 27,965 from 6 private persons working for the ACTO, Vikram Raju. The ACTO allowed these private agents to collect money from truck drivers who were transporting goods by evading taxes due to the government. The ACTO, junior inspectors and office sub-ordinates were found in the Check Post. The Attendance Register, Personal Cash Register etc. of the Commercial Tax Check Post at Madnoor were taken for further verification.

7. ACB sleuths on Thursday caught red-handed T Kanaka Raju, Panchayat Secretary, Madugula (V and M), Visakhapatnam District, at his office when he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,000 from the complainant for showing favour to process and issue cheque towards the pending monthly rental charges for the tractor of the complainant which was hired to remove garbage. Kanaka Raju was arrested and will be produced before the Court for Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Visakhapatnam.

Simultaneous searches were conducted by ACB Officials at the residence of Ekkati Rajit Reddy, Planning Officer, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority, (KUDA), Warangal, on Thursday, at Advocates' Colony, Balasamudram, Hanamakonda, and at the residences of his friends at Hanamakonda; Office of the KUDA, Hanamakonda; and his native place at Andukuthanda Village, Chityal Mandal, Warangal district.

The searches resulted in the unearthing of disproportionate assets worth about Rs. 75 lakh.

The assets include 9 house plots – 7 at Hanamkonda, Warangal district, and 2 at Ghatkesar, RR district; 2 houses – 1 at Warangal and 1 at Advocates' Colony, Hanamakonda; 6 acres 20 guntas of agricultural land at Warangal district and Anikal district of Karnataka; 878.95 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs. 8,13,340; 2kg 196gm of silver ornaments worth Rs. 47,500; fixed deposits worth Rs. 10,000; bank balance of Rs. 75,790; net cash of Rs. 6,000; and household articles worth Rs. 1,86,120. Ekkati Ajit Reddy was arrested.

8. Ponnana Chinababu, Office Superintendent, (Deputy Tahsildar), Burja (M), Srikakulam District, was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday at his office when he demanded and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from the complainant for showing official favour of preparing No-Objection Certificate for registration of Zeroyti land purchased by the complainant. Ponnana Chinababu was arrested.

9. ACB officials at the office and residence of APCPDCL Vanasthalipuram Assistant Divisional Engineer Pabbu Krishna since morning, assets valued at more than Rs 1.25 crore was found.An ACB release here today said the assets included two houses, one at Singareni Colony in Saroornagar and another at Ramnagar in Secunderabad, worth Rs 42 lakh and an open plot of 245 sq yards at Bairamalguda in Rajendranagar worth Rs 3,21,930.
They also found a Santro Car worth Rs 3.54 lakh, 900 gm gold worth Rs 7 lakh, household articles worth Rs 2,65,000 and eight acres of agricultural land at Malkapur Village in Choutuppal Mandal worth Rs 6 lakh.

10. M Chenchi Reddy, a Village Revenue Officer working in Itigullapadu Village in Kadapa District was caught red-handed in the office of Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO ) when accepted a bribe amount of Rs 3000 from the complainant for doing an official favour.
He was being arrested and produced before the ACB Court Nellore.

11. Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs one crore belonging to a deputy executive engineer in Andhra Pradesh. ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the residence of K Janardhan Reddy and his relative's places in the city here. Reddy was working as a deputy executive engineer with the Andhra Pradesh State Educational Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation here, ACB sources said.

The disproportionate assets include two houses, eight house sites, 12 acres of agricultural land and bank balance besides insurance policies and investments.

12.Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have arrested a Panchayat Secretary after he was caught while allegedly taking Rs 11,500 as bribe in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
T Sudhakar Reddy, Panchayat Secretary in Dichpally Mandal of Nizamabad district was caught red-handed by the ACB officials at his residence on Saturday when he accepted Rs 11,500 as bribe from the complainant for doing an official favour. the tainted amount of Rs 11,500 was recovered from Sudhakar Reddy and he was later arrested and produced before the Additional Special Judge for ACB cases in Hyderabad.

13. Two state government employees including a forest range officer were convicted and sent to jail by a local court here in separate corruption cases in Andhra Pradesh. The special judge for Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) cases, Hyderabad, has convicted M Ramakrishna Rao, a former forest range officer, and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years.

14. Rao, who worked in Nalgonda district, was trapped by ACB when he had accepted a bribe of Rs two lakh from the complainant in 2007. The accused officer had demanded the bribe from an industrialist for allowing vehicles to pass through reserve forest area to transport the rawmaterial from mine lease land to the factory, ACB official said here today.

In another case, the special judge found guilty of G Venkateswarlu an additional assistant engineer of a state-owned power distribution corporation, who was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 three years ago for doing an official favour.The judge sentenced him to undergo two years imprisonment.
